Blurb:

Jesse has no problem attracting women, but all they want is a relationship, marriage, family—the works. Angela, his best friend's baby sister, is the only woman he never thought of as girlfriend material. That is, until she gives him dance lessons and he discovers beneath her prim, repressed shell is the sexual temptress he's always wanted.

Angela is attracted to Jesse, but their relationship can't be anything but complicated since he's engaged to another woman, or so she thinks. When Jesse reveals the truth behind his "engagement," and his feelings for Angela, will the flames of desire still burn hot, or is Angela just after a bad boy?

Sex and sin never went together so well.

Checklists and the business of writing

I got the middle of the week blah's this morning--and it's only Tuesday! I got a lot on my plate and most of it has to be done by the end of the week. With a family, my priorities are constantly changing. Sometimes I don't get it all done, but I try. Somehow the baby gets fed and changed but my housework may sit longer than it should.

I am a compulsive organizer. I organize my time, by making checklists every day and what doesn't get done gets moved to the next day. When I check off something it makes me feel a sense of satisfaction and just good. So I like my checklists and they work for me. I find when I don't use my lists things don't get done or get forgotten. Even for something as simple as going to the grocery store. Frequently I forget if it's not on the list.

This habit of making lists transfers to my writing. I am a plotter by habit. I need to know where I am going to get there. It doesn't have to be a long outline, just a sentence for the scene or a thing to remind me what is supposed to happen.

I even try to organize my year ahead of time. From my corporate days I hear that those people that set goals acheive more. So I have a list of goals I look at every day. They hang right next to my computer. If I am not moving towards those goals than I am not going to be better off than the year before. The one I keep ignoring is to solicit an agent, but it's going to be more realistic in 2010. I hope to attend more events as baby gets older and see agents and editors at those events. The RWA national conference will be in my hometown next year. So I can't miss that!

How do you organize your day?

Stay tuned for more news as I get it. We just finished our edits and this book may get an early release date of next week, Nov 29th. So that would mean I can shre it with you all early. I am just soo excited just thinking about it. This is Cherie's first published book so she is super excited but I never stop getting excited. Yay!

Whew!

I just finished going over the edits for round 1 of Cowboys Don't Dance. That feels like a load was just lifted off my shoulders by having it done. Some of you may wonder why it still has to be edited, but there are things that different sets of eyes will catch. Most of the changes at this point were minor and to keep things in continuity with time frames or characters personalities.

I need to get back to writing. It's like therapy in a way and heals my spirit.

Today has been a hectic one and I have a big list to do tomorrow as well. So I'm not truly sure if or when I will have a chance to write. I lost most of my stories to my broken laptop. So it may be a while before I go back to those. I thought of starting something new--something different, but what? I cruised some calls for submission and found an Angels and Demons call, but am not sure I can have 20-30k written by the middle of next month.

Too bad I already have ideas for titles. How's this?

Cowboy Up!!!

Who doesn't enjoy a sexy cowboy story? I know I do!

My writing over the last few years has been mostly experimental. I have been genre hopping. Hoping eventually to settle on a favorite kind of storytelling. When it works--great! When it doesn't--it's time to try try again.

One thing I keep coming back to is westerns. I must have a love for cowboys, but there is something more that calls me to write these kinds of stories. The code of the west, wide open spaces, realizing the dream of making a home and starting a family. It's all just a small part of why I go all sweet on a good cowboy story.

I started writing westerns with a historical called Gold Fever. As much as I enjoyed writing it, I thought it would be my last. I foolishly thought writing about one cowboy would be enough to get it out of my system. Foolish girl! Once is never enough!

I had to have another cowboy come into my life. Jesse Burke is a gentleman, but he is a cowboy first. He gave years of his life to the rodeo and when he came home to the ranch, he put down roots. Angela always loved him, but he treated her like a baby sister. Her last chance to win the cowboy's heart would be to teach him the dance of desire.

Cowboys Don't Dance will be releasing from Siren Publishing December 2009!
